Gandhi's Murder and Modi's Second Term

Vinayak Damodar Savarkar of Hindu Mahasabha founded the term Hindutva, and then RSS took it as its own, literally. Sardar Patel sent a letter to Pundit Nehru right after assassination of Mahatma Gandhi that RSS had nothing to do with it, but at the same time he wrote to Chief of RSS, MS Gowalkar accusing his organization to create such an environment where a person like Gandhiji could be killed and then the members of his organization could celebrate the death of Father of Nation. In the presence of Dalit leader Ambedkar and Hindu nationalist Shyamaprasad Mukherjee in cabinet, the Government banned RSS for years despite no direct proof of their involvement. Because there was a common belief that they were the happiest guys in world in the death of the most revered Indian. So they must have done something.

History plays brutal games. RSS told in court that they weren’t associated either with Savarkar or his Hindu Mahasabha or his extreme Hindu fascism, which they termed as ‘fanatic’.  Technically, it’s true. But in field, they never disowned Hindu Mahasabha, nor they stopped or punished the members who worshipped and praised the Mahatma-killer Nathuram Godse. It’s funny that now they are dragging Rahul Gandhi to court for defamation for his public accusation that few people from RSS had killed Gandhiji. Actually they should be happy.

Rahul Gandhi of Congress is an iconic dumb, but this time he played a master stroke. Narendra Modi is playing straight, better than his predecessor ‘Silent’ Singh. He’s creating an aura which can be invincible and he can be impossible to defeat in 2019 election. But what if his mentor organization RSS is been publicly scrutinized! Specially for their role in the death of Mahatma and handling of post-death celebration. For defamation, Rahul can be jailed for maximum 2 years in worst case, but if Congress & Co. and their highly paid lawyers and pet media become successful to re-raise this question ‘was RSS involved in murdering Mahatma?’ then in this age of street justice and social media craze, even if RSS win the court, Narendra Modi’s win will be nearly impossible.

And RSS fell in that trap. They could ignore Rahul’s assertion easily, like everybody does. A very few people take Rahul seriously. God knows why, Narendra Modi is one of them.

You hate him or love him, Mahatma Gandhi was an extraordinary person and whose murder is still a highly sensitive issue. It’s a shame that some people do politics even with his death. They twist history, hide information, and then present a completely different story. And we without any evidence, accept those stories. Fairy tales do exit. Aren’t they?
