The Adventure With Butterflies

When all the flowers swayed with soothing air and welcomed her, the little one smiled. Her mother taught her not to touch or pluck flowers. Flowers do have a life. The baby flowers grow from little buds to colorful petals, a full journey. She understood, and so when the flowers welcomed her, she leaned forward and giggled. She walked over the grass and played with butterflies, as though she could speak with them. They showed her their secret hives and their unlimited love towards flowers.

“How come you guys fly? I cannot fly”, the little one asked.

“You don’t have any wings. I can’t see any wings”, the leader of the butterflies said. He had these two beautiful mosaic see-through wings. And his little body was attached in-between.

The little one was sad. She too wanted to fly and sat on flowers and love them. No one stopped butterflies from touching the flowers, only her mother did. She flipped her hands as though she could fly. The gang of butterflies laughed.

“Why you all are laughing?”

“You can’t fly little human. These two aren’t wings. They’re called hands”, the butterflies screamed, as though it was super-funny.

The little one knew that. But she hoped otherwise. She came back from school early, and her mother was still in office. At evening, her granny left her in porch and was busy in speaking with an aunty.

“Isn’t there any way that I can fly too? Like you guys?” the little one said to the gang.

The butterflies did a round-flying-meeting. The leader with two see-thorough wings was in the middle. They discussed for long and then the meeting was over.

“We have decided that we can teach you how to fly. But you’ve to teach us something first”, the leader butterfly said.

The little one was seated on a bench. She jumped on this proposal and eagerly answered. “Yes. I will teach you anything for that. What do you want to learn?”

The leader butterfly hesitated a little. He looked at the keen faces of his fellow butterflies and then said, “We want you to teach us football”.

“What?” the little one was surprised. Football? The butterflies wanted to learn football? How was that possible?

“Yes. We always see the human kids are playing with large balls. We too want to play that. Teach us please”, the leader pleaded. And then the whole gang of butterflies started pleading. “Please. Please. Please. Teach us O’ Vedantika.”

The little one thought a little. She could watch her football below, on the ground, above green grass. It was a white ball with red stars. Quite bigger than butterflies. How she could teach butterflies the basics of football? It seemed impossible. But then her books said, nothing was impossible. She thought hard and harder and more. And then it came to her mind.

What if all the butterflies push the football together? Then it could move and the butterflies could play. She could play the football against all butterflies. She shared her plan with the leader and the leader shared the plan with his gang, and then the gang shared the plan with each-others. When all were on board, she came down from the bench and hit the football. The butterflies flew behind the ball to catch that.

The little one was elated. After the game, the butterflies were gonna teach her how to fly.
